Art Competition

The CSO runs the John Hooper Poster competition every year. The prizes are great: 1st Place - €1,600 (of which €1,000 is awarded to the school and €600 is awarded to the team) 2nd Place - €1,000 (of which €650 is awarded to the school and €350 is awarded to the team) 3rd Place - €600 (of which €400 is awarded to the school and €200 is awarded to the team) To win the students must produce a poster that displays statistics. The statistics can be taken from existing sources or can be from research conducted by the students themselves. The focus seems to be on the data as opposed to the poster design. Previous winners have covered a diverse range of topics in almost any subject you could think of. If you have students engaged in a project involving any kind of research that produces data that can be graphed/charted/presented let me know and I can advise you on how to enter. A diverse range of subjects can be used - last years winners for example were: Geography (Topographical analysis of mobile phone coverage in Clare) Environment/Green Schools: How Much Plastic is Washed Up On Our Shores? Sport: The Impact of the Crowd on Referees' Decision Making Does Exercise Affect Happiness? Language: How Does Relative Pitch Affect a Person's Ability to Reproduce or Pronounce Languages Biology: Can We Save the Common Ash? Politics: Do Irish Teenagers Agree With Irish Neutrality? Music:How To Write A Piece of Chart Topping Music? Ag Science: Could Vertical Farming be Used as a More Efficient Method than Conventional Arable Farming in Ireland Business: A Regression Based Forecasting Model for Irelands Electricity Price Inflation

Credit Union Art Competition

Michael DeloherySep 17 Competition Stages The credit union art competition is composed of three stages, but it is up to the participating credit union to set the date, we ask that all be completed by the below dates, so please contact your participating credit union for their closing date. Stage Level Stage 1 Stage 1 Credit Union Level Friday 20th October 2023 Stage 2 Chapter Level Friday 17th November 2023 Stage 3 National Final Wednesday 6th December 2023 Entrants must enter at credit union level to progress to the following stages. The winning entries from stage one are passed to Chapter for adjudication at a regional (second) stage before the winners only at this level are forwarded to the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) for final (national) judging. Please note the above dates are subject to change. Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the competition are the sole responsibility of the credit union and chapter. They may choose to change the date in line with their own individual judging process so please contact your local credit union for their dates that they need receipt of your artwork
